Rooted in Sustainability – Our Garden to Skin Promise

At ʻOhana Organics, sustainability isn’t something we add on. It’s where we begin.
Our work starts in our certified organic garden in Humboldt County, California, where many of the herbs we use calendula, plantain, lavender, and more are grown by hand and shaped by the natural rhythm of the seasons. We don’t rush this process or try to outpace it. When plants are allowed to grow as they’re meant to, they retain what makes them effective in the first place. Healthy soil leads to healthy plants, and healthy plants lead to better skincare. It’s that simple.
Once harvested, our herbs are carefully dried or slowly infused into oils, capturing their natural properties in a form the skin can truly receive. This is where traditional herbal knowledge meets modern skincare. We focus on whole, recognizable ingredients used with intention, rather than relying on unnecessary fillers or shortcuts. Every batch is crafted by hand in small quantities, allowing us to stay closely connected to the quality and integrity of what we make.
While we grow many of our own herbs, we also source ingredients that cannot be grown locally like shea butter, with the same level of care. We prioritize organic and unrefined materials, fair-trade partnerships that support growers and their communities, and responsible harvesting practices that respect the land. Sustainability doesn’t stop at what we grow; it extends to everything we choose to include.
In a world of mass production, small batch is a deliberate choice. It allows us to reduce waste, maintain freshness and potency, and remain accountable to every ingredient and every product we create. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is made without intention. It’s a slower way of doing things, but it’s one we believe in and one you can feel.
We also carry that same mindset into our packaging. We keep materials as simple and minimal as possible, choosing options that protect the product while reducing unnecessary impact, and encouraging reuse and refill whenever we can. It’s not about being perfect, but about being thoughtful in every step.
For us, sustainability isn’t a finish line. It’s a living practice. We are always learning, always refining, and always looking for ways to do better for the Earth, for our community, and for the people who trust us with their skin.
From the first seed planted to the final jar in your hands, everything we create is rooted in care, intention, and respect. Because caring for your skin and caring for the Earth should never be separate they should be one and the same.
