From Garden to Jar: 'Ohana's Summer Harvest Rituals

There is something truly special about August in our magical organic garden. The long summer days have transformed this space into a sea of vibrant herbs and flowers, and each morning begins with our baskets in hand as we head out to harvest some of our favorite botanicals. It's one of the busiest times of the year, but also one of the most rewarding.

At ʻOhana Organics, every product begins in healthy, living soil where our herbs are carefully tended throughout the growing season. We believe exceptional skincare starts with exceptional ingredients, and that means giving every plant the time, love and care it deserves.

Harvesting herbs is both an art and a science. Many are gathered during the cool morning hours when their aromatic oils and beneficial plant compounds are at their peak. Each herb is hand-selected and carefully dried or infused to preserve the qualities that make these botanicals so special.

One of our favorite herbs to harvest this time of year is calendula. Its bright golden blossoms have been cherished by herbalists for generations for supporting healthy-looking skin. Alongside calendula, we also harvest plantain, yarrow, rosemary, lavender, mugwort, and other herbs that become the heart and soul of our handcrafted products.

Once harvested, the journey continues as the herbs are gently dried then infused into nourishing oils and botanical extracts before being handcrafted into small batches. It's a slower process than mass production, but one we believe creates products with greater care, quality, and intention.
